Verses Concerning Salvation
1 John 2:17 KJB
"And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but
he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."
Hebrews 5:9 KJB
"And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all
them that obey him;"
John 14:15 KJB
"If ye love me,
keep my commandments."
Matthew 7:13-14 KJB
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the
way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is
the gate, and
narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
1 Timothy 5:6 KJB
"But
she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth."
Matthew 10:39 KJB
"He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that
loseth his life for my sake shall find it."
Luke 9:23 KJB
"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him
deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."
Romans 6:16 KJB
"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of
sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
James 2:17-20 KJB
"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man
may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will
shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the
devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that
faith without works is dead?".
John 3:36 KJB
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
The first believeth in this verse is defined in the original greek as "pisteuo: to believe, to have faith, to trust" and the
second believeth is defined as "apeitheo: disobey, be disobedient, refuse to believe"
. We see here that being subject (obedient) to the will of the Son (Jesus) is what gives us
access to true faith (trust in Him that He will save us in the end).
God has set before us a blessing and a curse, Heaven and Hell. Whether we receive one or the other depends on whether we choose to obey or disobey.
It is that simple.
Deuteronomy 11:26-28 KJB
"Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:
And
a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God"...
Those verses from Deuteronomy are speaking about the Mosaic Law (AKA the "law of Moses", AKA "the law") which were the
commandments given to Moses from God, to teach and guide the Israelites in the times before Jesus' ministry was fulfilled.
Of which laws, Christ has set us free from and we are no longer obligated to keep them. And
I am not speaking about the 10 commandments, of which 10 commandments we are taught in the New Testament, minus the commandment to keep the sabbath day
(we are freed from the sabbath day/days in Colossians 2:16 KJB).
Romans 6:14 KJB
"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are
not under the law, but under grace."
Those verses simply reinforce that
God requires obedience.
